Shared Treasure
Editing Services
If you would like a trustworthy, patient, experienced, professional editor to work with,
I will share my treasure with you.
Dr. James Fairchild is a Professor of Writing at a small private university in the Midwest. I consider Dr. Fairchild my editor, teacher, mentor, and friend. For a flat hourly rate, he can edit your manuscript on any level you wish, from basic copyediting to a complete rewrite — and he will support you through the process. He knows far more about the technical art of writing than I do, which is probably why he constantly surprises me. Even when I have literally gone over every letter in every word in every sentence in a paragraph and am certain it is well executed, he will make a simple suggestion that will completely enhance. He is that good!
Is this a way to generate more business for Dr. Fairchild? Not really. Between his spiritual practice, teaching responsibilities, photography, and gardening, Jim does not have much time to spare, so I am not even sure I want to tell others about him. But he has helped me so much with my writing, I would be remiss if I didn't offer you the opportunity to work with someone so refined, so simple, clear thinking, bright, focused, and genuine.

Book Endorsements
It is helpful to obtain endorsements from authors and well-known professionals in the same genre as you. These can be used on the front or back book cover, as well as on your website, and printed matter, and other advertisements.
Endorsements can be obtained in a variety of creative ways. Personally I chose people I respected and found their contact information on-line or called their publisher, I then wrote them a personal letter telling them how they had touched my life. I asked if I could mail them a book for review, and if they liked it, would they write me an endorsement.
I have gotten a response from just about every person I ever contacted including Robert Redford whose secretary wrote back saying he was filming “The Horse Whisperer” and would be tied up for some time.
So take a chance. Go for the gold. Choose someone that you really admire and would love to get an endorsement from. Remember you are an author now too, so these are your peers. Every author can use more publicity and having their name on your book is just one more place their name appears.
